“And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:” Genesis 3:14

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head (Jesus will bruise the head of Satan), and thou shalt bruise his heel (Satan will bruise Jesus’ heal.)” Genesis 3:15

This scripture paints the picture of the cross.

Although Jesus would have great victory, it would come at a great cost.

All of this was an act of God’s grace and His promise to rescue and restore mankind.

Ever since the fall of man, God has been on a mission to rescue us.

The story of Joseph and his family is a miraculous and incredible. It shows how God uses Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers, to be able to provide for them in a time of famine.

This was all a set up by God!

The famous line from Joseph in this story was this…

“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” Genesis 50:20

God multiplied the children of Israel so much that when a new King of Egypt who didn’t know the legacy of Joseph came on the scene, he put the Isrealites in slavery.

Here we read where God steps back on the scene again with a plan to rescue His people from captivity. Remember, Egypt is a typology of sin.

“And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.” Exodus‬ 3‬:7‬-8‬

God decides to send Moses (representing a redeemer, a type of Christ) to deliver them from the hard taskmasters of slavery.

Again, this is a typology of what sin is.

Sin is like a slavemaster.

You are only lying to yourself if you think you are “FREE” living a life of sin.

Sin is a yoke of slavery. And you cannot break free by yourself. You need a savior!

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:36

God loved His people so much, He made a plan of escape for His people.

After many plagues and many “no’s” from Pharaoh, finally he relented and let them go.

It was the final plague of the death of every first born that was the final blow to Pharaoh. When his son died is when he released the children of Israel.

Here is the amazing, miraculous, incredible thing that happened. The plague did not touch the homes of the Israelites.

Here is the reason why…..

It is one of the redemption stories of God and it was the very first Passover. God tells them to sacrifice a lamb that is without blemish (representing a type of Christ). Then they were to apply the blood on the doorpost of their houses.

When the death angel “passed over,” if it saw the blood, the plague would not harm anyone in that house.

“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Exodus 12:13

Can I talk to someone today about your spiritual reset?

If you have never applied the blood of Calvary to your life, this is your day to be set free from spiritual bondage.

This is the day to experience the gospel in your life…the death, the burial and the resurrection.

After the blood was applied, the Israelites did not stay in Egypt (or sin). They left and headed toward the promise. Before the promise, they needed to pass through the sea. Passing through the water represents a type of baptism.

If you have been living in a place of spiritual bondage, I want you to know that the blood of our redeemer has already been shed – now you just have to apply it!

Are you ready for a spiritual reset?
