In seasons of abundance, worship often comes easily. But what happens when life turns difficult, when the blessings dry up, when prayers feel unanswered, and when hope seems distant?
That’s where the real test of pursuit begins.
The Power of a Consecrated Heart
In 2 Chronicles 7, King Solomon had just completed the temple.
Chronicles 7:14 “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
The dedication was marked by extravagant sacrifice—so much, in fact, that the altar couldn’t hold it all. And when God’s presence filled the temple, the response of the people was immediate and overwhelming:
“When all the people of Israel saw the fire coming down and the glorious presence of the Lord filling the Temple, they fell face down on the ground and worshiped and praised theLord, saying, “He is good! His faithful love endures forever!”
(2 Chronicles 7:3 NLT)
This wasn’t passive, distracted worship. It was focused. Undivided. Relentless.
That’s what happens when we seek Him with everything we’ve got. When we are in a relentless pursuit of Him, nothing distracts our attention from seeking Him with all of our might. Our distractions fall away, and our hearts align with what matters most: His presence.
The Call to Total Commitment
Jesus echoed this same truth in Mark 12:28-30 when He said:
“One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 Jesus replied,“The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and onlyLord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.”
This is the heart of relentless pursuit. It’s not just Sunday morning worship. It’s a lifestyle—loving Him with every part of who you are.
- Heart – Your desires and affections.
- Soul – Your emotions and spiritual hunger.
- Mind – Your thoughts and focus.
- Strength – Your energy and actions.
Relentless pursuit doesn’t leave room for half-hearted living. It means you’re all in, no matter what’s happening around you.
Psalm 47:1“O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph”
Psalm 66:1-2 NLT“Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth!2Sing about the glory of his name!Tell the world how glorious he is.”
Psalm 95:1-2 NLT“Come, let us sing to theLord!Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving.Let us sing psalms of praise to him.”
Our relentless worship does not have to be just at the house of God….but especially in the house of God… we will worship with all our might!
What Happens When Trouble Comes?
God made a promise to Solomon that still speaks to us today:
“ So Solomon finished the Temple of the Lord, as well as the royal palace. He completed everything he had planned to do in the construction of the Temple and the palace.12 Then one night the Lord appeared to Solomon and said, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices.13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you.”
(2 Chronicles 7:11-13)
In other words—yes, hard times will come. There will be dry seasons. There will be setbacks. But our response should be the same: humble ourselves, pray, and seek His face.
Will you still be relentless in your pursuit for Him? Will your worship change? Will your love for Him be halfhearted? Will you not serve Him with all your strength?
That’s what relentless pursuit looks like in real life, not giving up when it’s hard, but leaning in even deeper.
And when we do, God promises restoration, healing, and forgiveness.
“14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 15 My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. 16 For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.” (2 Chronicles 7:14-16)
The Danger of Drifting
God doesn’t just promise blessing for relentless pursuit. He also warns of the consequences when we turn away.
“19 But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the decrees and commands I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods,20then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make it an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations. 21 And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled. They will ask, ‘Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’ 22 “And the answer will be, ‘Because his people abandoned theLord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why he has brought all these disasters on them (2 Chronicles 7:19-22)
This isn’t about punishment—it’s about God’s desire for exclusive relationship. He doesn’t want to share your heart with idols, distractions, or the temporary comforts of this world.
Pursuing other “gods” (whether they’re fame, money, comfort, or control) always leads to destruction. But pursuing Him leads to life. May it never be said of anyone of us, we have abandoned the ONE TRUE God and pursued other gods instead.
Relentless Pursuit Leads to Peace
We’re not promised a pain-free life. In fact, Jesus was clear:
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart—I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33)
The reward of relentless pursuit isn’t the absence of problems—it’s the presence of peace in the middle of them.
So today, ask yourself:
Is your heart fully His?
Is your worship persistent?
Because when you seek Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength… He meets you right there.
