There is something VERY special about today that is greater than any other day in our life.
Today, you and I have an opportunity to make some decisions that we might not have the opportunity to make tomorrow.
Maybe some of these decisions we should have made yesterday but in God’s grace, He gave us another chance to make it right TODAY.
Some people work great under pressure (I am one of them) and for the most part, they get things done. Some people call it procrastination but those who excel under that type of pressure, they call it their strength!
In the natural world, waiting till the last minute to scramble under pressure might be just fine. If you’re late on a work deadline and Jesus happens to come back, it isn’t a big deal.
But procrastination in the spiritual world can lead to the death to your soul.
Procrastination is a tool that is used by the enemy to make us avoid saying YES to God for today by convincing us that tomorrow is okay.
Everything about Kingdom Culture is about TODAY.
When the disciples were called by Jesus, it was a now moment!!! They had to drop everything and follow Him because the Kingdom of God was at hand!
We cannot allow distractions to steal what God has for us today. Let’s look at what Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 6…
He is talking about not to worrying but He also shows the importance of focusing on TODAY.
Matthew 6:30-34 NLT “And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’
These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Zacchaeus’ story shows us the importance of today….
Luke 19:1-10 NLT “Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town. There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd.
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”
Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. But the people were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled. Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!”
Jesus responded,“Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”
2 Corinthians 6:2 “For God says, ‘At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.’ Indeed, the ‘right time’ is now. Today is the day of salvation.”
Guzik writes, “The morrow is none of ours: we know not what will be on the morrow, nor where we shall be; and we should remember that present seasons of grace are short and uncertain, and cannot be recalled when they are past. It is therefore our duty and interest to improve them while we have them, and no less than our salvation depends upon our so doing.”
James 4:13-14 “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
Spurgeon said, “There are two great certainties about things that shall come to pass – one is that God knows, and the other is that we do not know.”
This world’s culture says to put of eternal decisions till tomorrow. Kingdom Culture says don’t wait any longer to get right with God. Make the most of TODAY!
